Mrs. Farica West

Welcome to Geneva County Elementary School! My name is Farica West, and I am honored to serve here at GCES, a school with incredibly supportive families, dedicated staff, and immense hometown pride.

Each and every day, our mission here at GCES is to love children, to teach children, and to prepare your students for a successful future.  My views about education come from a variety of experiences that have helped mold me into a lifetime educator.  I began my career as a Special Education teacher almost 30 years ago, working at inner-city schools for many years as a reading intervention teacher, and then later on moving into school administration 16 years ago.
I have served as a school principal for the past 14 years, mainly having been a principal in combination schools, serving students in grades PreK-12.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Special Education, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, along with an additional Master's Degree in Educational Leadership.  As a lifelong educator, I understand the importance of always putting children's needs first and striving daily to ensure each child is receiving the best education possible, whatever that needs to look like for each student individually.
It is a wonderful blessing to now serve here at GCES where our teachers work diligently each day to provide students with standards-based instruction and strive to cultivate a learning environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity along the way.  We stand ready to answer your questions, to listen to your feedback, and to ensure that by working together your children are successful.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education and preparation of your children. We are eager to work with you and provide your students with the best education possible.  I look forward to what we will all achieve together!
