Ms. Amy Hendrix

My entire teaching career has been at Slocomb High School. I began as a middle school language arts teacher in 1992. In 1996 I moved to the high school where I began teaching both regular and honors English classes and theater arts. Currently, I continue to teach regular and honors English classes, choir, and theater.

We are a REDTOP family! My father is a 1957 graduate of Slocomb. I followed him in 1988, and my brother continued the tradition in 1996. My son is the most recent graduate, a member of the class of 2016. I love this school and am happy to teach and know its students.

After graduation from SHS, I graduated magna cum laude from both Enterprise State Junior College (1990) and Troy State University (1992). I began teaching at SHS in the fall of 1992 and have been a member of the Redtop faculty ever since. I am highly qualified and certified in the areas of English, theater, speech, and journalism.

I live in Malvern with my daughter (SHS class of 2028). My son and daughter-in-law live in Hartford and visit often. We all attend Malvern Baptist Church where I am the pianist. Outside of  spending time with my family, I enjoy reading, music, travel, and supporting the Redtops!
